Manatee County Government is seeking an Industrial Electrician for the Utilities Department. The position is full-time and hourly, with a salary range of $27.61 - $41.41 per hour. The work location is 4530 66th Street West, Bradenton, Florida 34210, with work hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
The expected starting hourly range for this position is $27.61 - $34.51.
This role involves performing advanced technical tasks related to the installation, maintenance, or service of three-phase electrical systems. The work includes troubleshooting motor controls or repairs based on computerized radio telemetry reports or maintenance management system reports. The job requires working with high voltages when installing, modifying, or repairing electrical equipment. The work is performed with considerable independence and reviewed for results obtained.
Working conditions include both indoor and outdoor environments, requiring significant physical exertion and/or physical strain, sometimes under adverse conditions or in inclement weather. The role involves a high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs. alone; up to 75 lbs. with assistance. The ability to distinguish colors, climb and descend ladders, and work other than normal business hours, including weekends and holidays, is also required.
The essential functions of this position include performing maintenance, modification, repair, testing, and installation of electrical fixtures and equipment in three-phase industrial plants, including wiring, lighting, machinery, power appliances, overhead circuits, motors, relays, switches, and control boxes. Emergency repair of industrial motor control centers, troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical equipment, motor control, and instrumentation, and maintaining, repairing, adjusting, and installing electrical motors, generators, automatic power transfer switches, variable frequency drives, radio telemetry systems, meters, timers, and control centers in industrial applications are also part of the job.
The minimum qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, four or more years of experience as an Industrial (non-residential) Electrician, a valid driver license, and the ability to participate in a standby rotation schedule outside of normal shift hours, with the ability to respond to emergencies within a reasonable time frame.
