Hours: 40 hrs/week | Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM PST

Summary

• Nike is seeking a Senior Buyer (Footwear) who embodies the spirit of a true consumerist — passionate about product, retail trends, and creating assortments that drive consumer connection and business results. This role supports Nike Direct Value Stores, delivering seasonal assortments that reflect Nike’s brand leadership in style, performance, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute seasonal assortment strategies for Nike Direct Value (Outlet) stores across ~180 locations.
• Lead footwear assortment planning, ensuring the right products reach the right stores at optimal depths.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Allocation, Visual Merchandising, Pricing, and Brand Marketing to align assortment strategy with retail KPIs.
• Drive inventory and pricing strategies to maximize sell-through and minimize excess stock.
• Participate in seasonal buy reviews and in-season trading sessions to adjust assortment and strategy.
• Analyze data to inform decision-making using Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and advanced analytics).
• Blend consumer insights, marketplace trends, and business metrics to create balanced and impactful product assortments.
• Partner closely with Digital and Store Buying, Consumer Merchandising, and Global Merchandising teams to execute strategic vision.

Who You Will Work With

• You will collaborate closely with fellow merchants, buyers, planners, allocators, and brand marketers across Nike Direct, including Digital, Stores Buying, Consumer Merchandising, and Operations. The role involves cross-functional coordination with Finance, Analytics, and Insights teams to track sales, inventory, and consumer behavior metrics.

• Strong product and consumer affinity; deep understanding of retail buying and assortment dynamics.
• Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, formulas, lookups, and analytics).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing abilities across cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking — able to translate data into actionable plans.
• Proven ability to drive multiple seasonal strategies and execute with precision.
• Business acumen with familiarity in retail metrics such as sell-through, turn, ASP, and UPT.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of experience in footwear or apparel buying, merchandising, or product creation.
• Background in vertical, multi-brand, or digital retail environments preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of trend, consumer behavior, and marketplace positioning.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.

Preferred

• Prior Nike merchandising or buying experience highly desirable.
• Experience in footwear-focused assortment and strategy development.
• Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
