About the Role:

The Sheet Metal Mechanic plays a crucial role in the durable goods manufacturing industry by fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products and equipment. This position requires a keen eye for detail and precision, as the mechanic will work with various materials to create components that meet strict specifications and quality standards. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a sheet metal mechanic or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery related to sheet metal work.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various physical conditions.
• Ability to read and comprehend measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, angle finder, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in sheet metal fabrication or a related field.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience in a durable goods manufacturing setting.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to operate slip roll, drill press, band saw
• Ability to operate non-CNC mill and/or lathe
• Familiar with lean manufacturing principles

Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products according to blueprints and specifications.
• Operate various tools and machinery, including shears, brakes, and welding equipment.
• Inspect and test completed products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and repair existing sheet metal structures and equipment as needed.
• Collaborate with other team members to optimize production processes and improve efficiency.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, which is essential for accurately fabricating sheet metal products.
