Warehouse Manager

Location: Maryland City, MD

Pay: $95,000-$115,000

Main Purpose of the Role

Lead the warehouse team to manage inventory, supply materials to production, and oversee third-party warehouse service providers to ensure performance meets plant KPIs. Drive initiatives to optimize warehouse costs, improve safety, and maintain inventory freshness while ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the warehouse team in setting and achieving targets for inventory management, material supply to production, and timely goods delivery.
• Oversee the warehouse management information system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Champion process improvements to maximize efficiency and resource utilization.
• Maintain flexibility in operations to adapt to unexpected supply chain challenges or market changes.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives, manage the warehouse budget, and oversee capital investment requirements.
• Negotiate and manage service provider contracts, ensuring optimal 3PL performance and cost efficiency.
• Recruit, engage, and manage warehouse personnel while fostering a safe, organized, and motivated work environment.
• Ensure facility, equipment, and security maintenance.
• Identify potential operational risks and implement solutions to minimize impact.
• Communicate daily/weekly operational updates to align teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures, including 5S workplace organization.
• Update system planning parameters for materials as required.

• Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Pallets received and offloaded per labor hour
  • Storage location accuracy and utilization rates
  • Production attainment and inventory accuracy percentages
  • Labor cost as a percentage of warehouse costs
  • Storage cost per pallet

  Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in warehouse management at a business level.
  • Operational experience in logistics, transportation, or technical environments preferred.
  • Project management experience (e.g., warehouse design/redesign, high-performance logistics).
  • Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in improvement tools and concepts.
  • Advanced Excel skills, negotiation, and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of planning cycles, optimization techniques, costing, and commercial principles.

  Preferred Experience & Knowledge

  • Materials fulfillment processes, warehouse tools, systems, and best practices.
  • Experience with insourcing vs. outsourcing warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, environment, and quality principles.
  • Understanding of legal frameworks related to warehouse operations.
  • Budget management and cost analysis.
  • Stock management including seasonal demand, lifecycle status, and shelf life considerations.
